Deposit – does anyone take less than 50% upfront?
We usually ask 50% deposit before we start. Had a client ask if we'd do 10% or 20% because they've been burned before. Does anyone work with a lower advance? Don't want to lose the job but also don't want to get stiffed.

We're 50% minimum. Had too many no-shows or people changing their mind after we'd already ordered stone. Not worth the risk for us.
Same here. 50% to lock it in. We've tried 30% once and had to chase the rest for months. Never again.
We do 50% as well. If they're nervous we show them the contract and explain what the deposit covers. Usually they're fine with it.
We had a client offer 25% and we said no. They came back a week later and paid 50%. Sometimes they're just testing.
Same. Hold the line. If they can't do 50% they might not be able to pay the rest either. Learned that the hard way.
We do 50% to start and 50% before delivery. Never had a problem. The ones who push back on deposit are usually the ones who disappear.
